The whole Chapter is only three paragraphs long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Future installments will be in a different format, as you will see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you missed Chapter One, you can <a href=\"https:\/\/trennamahney.com\/commencing-the-darwin-letters\/\">find it here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">By Trenna<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center has-accent-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\">Chapter <strong>Two<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-center has-accent-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\"><strong><em>Leaving home<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\">Finally, after months of consideration and anticipation, and weeks of preparation, departure day Thursday 10th November 1994 has <strong><em>thankfully<\/em><\/strong> arrived.&nbsp; The past couple of weeks have seen us in perpetual motion.&nbsp; We\u2019ve attended more social functions (not all in honour of us) during the past couple of weeks than we have during the preceding couple of years.&nbsp; We\u2019ve had friends and rellys through the house snapping up discarded plants, crockery, cuddly toys, tools and all manner of paraphernalia.&nbsp;&nbsp; We\u2019ve been to barbecues, lunches, dinners, breakfasts, Halloween parties, wedding anniversaries, and now at 9.45am we are about to board Ansett Flight 394 due to touch down in Darwin at 3.45pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"580\" height=\"387\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/trennamahney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Scan-copy-3.jpg-10-12th-passing-on-possessions-1024x683.jpg?resize=580%2C387&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Girl and cuddly toy\" class=\"wp-image-1448\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.trennamahney.com\/testing\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Scan-copy-3.jpg-10-12th-passing-on-possessions.jpg?resize=1024%2C683&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.trennamahney.com\/testing\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Scan-copy-3.jpg-10-12th-passing-on-possessions.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.trennamahney.com\/testing\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Scan-copy-3.jpg-10-12th-passing-on-possessions.jpg?w=1192&amp;ssl=1 1192w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px\" \/><figcaption>Passing on possessions. 12 October 1994.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Apart from the occasional turbulence and seeing some specky salt lakes somewhere in the north of Western Australia, the flight was relatively uneventful.&nbsp; We landed for a 15 minute refueling stop at Kununurra, giving us a welcome opportunity to stretch our legs on a quick walk across the stinking hot tarmac from the air-conditioned plane to the air-conditioned arrival and departure lounge.&nbsp; The temperature was reportedly a scorching 41 degrees, but I reckon amidst the dust of nearby earthworks, the smell of fuel and the reflective heat of the tarmac it was probably in excess of 45 degrees.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once back on the plane, it only took us about 50 minutes to get to Darwin.&nbsp; Margie (Greg&#8217;s boss) welcomed us at the airport.
